North Reading Youth Services' mission is to allow for the voice of our youth to be heard in the community. We strive to establish youth-driven social and experiential activities and provide opportunities for young adults to become active members of our community. Through these programs we hope to foster a healthy self-image and encourage positive decision-making.

A Message From Youth Services

On January 23, 2013 our wonderful Youth Services Director, Erica Hansen, resigned from her position. We are very sad to see Erica go, but happy for her and her next adventure. We know she will be a huge success in New York. As we look to hire our next Youth Services Director we wanted to keep the community updated on our programs and our search to fill the big shoes Erica leaves behind.

Mentoring will continue to run at Flint Memorial Library on Wednesdays from 3:45-4:45pm and will be overseen by Youth Services Librarian, Emma Weiler. She can be contacted at 978-664-4942 or eweiler@mvlc.org.

Middle School Youth Group will take a break from meeting for the next few weeks but members will be invited to help us in the interview process and make sure we find the perfect fit for North Reading Youth Services. Email us at northreadingyouthservices@gmail.com if you are a member of youth group and would like to help us hire the next Director. No one knows what is best for this program better then you!

Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) and High School Youth Group will continue to meet weekly under the trusted supervision of Phillip Dardeno Thursday evenings 6:30-8:00pm at the Recreation Center at Ipswich River Park. Reading Memorial High School GSA has also offered for North Reading youth to join them on Thursdays at 2:15pm in their school library during our transition. NR youth are welcome to attend an upcoming conference in Andover and play in Stoneham with the Reading GSA.

Our annual Battle of the Bands is postponed as of right now. We will be updating the site very soon to determine whether or not it will be held this year. We also encourage you to check out Andover Youth Services, Winchester Youth Center and North Andover Youth Services websites to see what youth concerts they have coming up.

We will not be running activities over February vacation, but hope to be back in action for April vacation.
