NRYS is committed to providing meaningful community service opportunities for the young people of our community. We have volunteered at the Veteran’s Day Ceremony, the Holiday Lighting Festival, the Library Book Sale, Lowell Wish Project, the Haven from Hunger, collected goods for Lawrence Fire Victims, food for our local Food Pantry, and more! NRYS Mentoring Program |

North Reading Youth Services has started a mentoring program which allows High School students to work with elementary school students for one hour a week after school. We meet on Wednesdays from 3:45-4:45pm. If you are interested, please contact Youth Services for more information! |

We will volunteer at the Lowell Wish Project several times throughout the year. The clients served include families, battered women, children, teens and single adults in shelter, children with AIDS, and new immigrants from more than 14 countries. Next group volunteer date is MARCH 27th from 9-11am. |

The Arc of East Middlesex is located in Reading and works with people with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities. If you would like to volunteer, some of the possibilities include adaptive aquatics classes, kids cooking classes, semi-formal dances, the Walk for Hunger and more. Please contact Youth Services if you are interested! |

Youth Service Day |

Will be held annually in May! May 1st of this year with a rain date of May 2nd. This is a day for North Reading youth to do something meaningful, have a good time and give back to their community. Students finishing up grades 4 – 12 are welcome to participate and we can register an unlimited amount of students. We will be cleaning up sites around town, including the schools, the library, the Edith O’Leary center, the parks and fields, the police and fire stations and others. This may include weeding, mulching, raking, picking up trash and more. It’s Good to Be Green! We will also need adult help on this day. Please let us know if you are interested. |

Youth Services will be sponsoring an annual Blood Drive in the North Reading Town Hall and we will need student volunteers to help check people in and hand out refreshments. Please contact us to sign up for volunteer hours. April 21st 2pm-7pm |

Backpacks are filled with items that are needed by those who have been wounded and are without their own personal 'gear' since being evacuated from the battlefield. These backpacks are sent to combat support hospitals and military facilities to be given out to those who need them. Items needed: All hygiene items TRAVEL SIZE T-shirts Sweatpants Knit boxers White crew socks Toothbrushes Toothpaste Mouthwash Deodorant Disposable razors Shampoo Hand lotion Anti-bacterial wet wipes 5" hair combs Nail clippers/file Prepaid phone cards Backpacks that measure at least 17"X12.5"X7" must be black, no logos and new |
